FAMILY LAW
Domestic and marital problems are difficult to deal with. These
problems are made worse when there are children involved and disagreements
exist regarding child support and custody.
If you are experiencing domestic problems you may want to consult
with an attorney to learn your rights and obligations according
to the Pennsylvania Divorce Code.
Many parents are surprised to learn that they have an absolute
duty to support their children. Many are also surprised to learn
that child support and child custody are different matters, handled
by the court at different hearings. If a parent is behind in his
or her support payments, that parent still has a right to spend
time with their children. There is almost never a valid excuse for
preventing a child from having a relationship with both parents.
When you decide to speak with a lawyer about your support, custody
or divorce matter, you should look for a lawyer who:
- Has experience in Family Law
- Has experience with your county’s Family Court
- Has experience in several different areas of the law
- Realizes that the case is yours, not the lawyer’s
It is important to select a lawyer with whom you feel comfortable,
who knows when to fight and when to negotiate and who realizes that
you have to live with the outcome of the case.
Before you hire a lawyer be sure that the lawyer understands what
your desires are. Be sure that you understand what the fees are
and what the lawyer’s billing procedures are.
Our firm has over thirty years of experience handling family court
matters in Bucks and Montgomery Counties. We can help.
